The ADuM1250W I2C digital isolator is said to be the industry’s first to have an AEC-Q100–qualified –40° to 125°C automotive temperature rating. Providing true bidirectional isolation for the low-cost I2C serial bus, the chip is hot swappable and provides send and receive channels.

The small SOIC8-packaged device provides 1-MHz operation and takes 1.9 mA typ on one side and 1.7 mA on the other from 3.3-V supplies. Isolation is based on iCoupler chipscale transformer technology. ($2.21 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
